Good morning,Parkersburg City Council has approved the first rate increase at city pools since 2019. Officials say operating expenses have jumped nearly 50 percent because of rising costs for chemicals and maintenance contracts. New daily admission and season pass rates will take effect at both City Park and Southwood pools, while the city’s “Schools for Pools” program providing free access for qualifying families will continue.Council also approved changes within the Parkersburg Fire Department, reducing the number of captains while adding more lieutenants to improve staffing coverage at fire stations across the city. A four-point-two percent cost-of-living increase for civil service employees was also approved.Meanwhile, Governor Patrick Morrisey is continuing to campaign heavily ahead of next week’s primary election.
