Midstate school districts and universities are dealing with the fallout from a cybersecurity breach involving the Canvas learning platform. Officials say the hacking group "ShinyHunters" claimed responsibility for breaching Instructure, the parent company of Canvas. The breach reportedly exposed student names, ID numbers, and email addresses of an estimated 275 million users across nearly nine-thousand educational institutions worldwide. The company says the platform remains unavailable at this time. Chief Justice John Roberts defended the Supreme Court against the notion that he and the other justices are "political actors" during a trip to the Midstate this week. Roberts shared his view during a conference for lawyers and judges in Hershey on Wednesday and said, "we're not simply part of the political process, and there's a reason for that." The chief justice pushed back on what he believes are misconceptions held by the American people and asserted that the justices do not make policy decisions, rather they make decisions based on law. However, he did concede that people have a right to criticize the court and its decisions, but added that there is a tendency to focus too much on politics.
